This 3-year PhD position, supervised by Dr. Melissa Conroy and Professor Joanne Lysaght, promises an exciting exploration into the realm of developing “tumor-homing NK cell therapies for obesity-associated cancer.”

Project Overview: Cancer Immunology Research

The focus of this cutting-edge research is to address the urgent need for a novel treatment targeting the poor prognosis and obesity-associated malignancy, oesophageal adenocarcinoma (OAC).

The PhD candidate will leverage in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical models to evaluate the efficacy of innovative immunotherapeutic approaches specifically tailored for OAC.

Qualifications and Skills

Prospective applicants should possess an undergraduate degree or MSc in biomedical sciences, immunology, oncology, or a related discipline.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a profound passion for cancer research and immunology. While experience in cell and tissue culture techniques, flow cytometry, and ELISA is desirable, candidates without in vivo model experience are still encouraged to apply.

Teamwork is pivotal, and applicants must showcase a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a large multidisciplinary team. High levels of initiative, organizational skills, and strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
